Dallas, TX, Dec. 12, 2017 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE/KOREA IT TIMES) -- Modern Systems, the leader in helping enterprise organizations modernize their existing application environment in alignment with business strategy, is proud to be selected by a leading US transportation and logistics company to migrate their custom Adabas/Natural based software applications to a Microsoft SQL Server, C# .NET based architecture.

This customer operates thousands of transportation lines in twelve states, and is known for their successful overnight deliveries. Applications need to be evolved in a phased approach due to the customer’s vast network and wide-ranging suite of customized connectivity tools. The first phase involves migrating Adabas to a corporate standard SQL Server database. Natural programs will be replatformed onto the Modern Systems Application Transparency Platform (ATP) – enabling existing Natural programmer talent to be retained. To accommodate a fluctuating timeline, the ATP workbench conversion utility will be leveraged to progressively migrate Natural programs to a pure C# .NET framework.

Modern Systems worked with the customer to plan their project, and completed a detailed assessment of their needs and requirements. Company requirements center around three main areas: Connectivity, human resources and support programs. Complexity related to the number of connected applications and frequency of use means that a phased modernization effort is the most beneficial approach for the logistics and shipping powerhouse. The customer is keen to retain their strategic team of programming talent during and after the completed project. The customer expressed concerns around the continued support process due to the lengthy nature of the modernization endeavor, however were reassured by the extensive developer support features (including robust debugging functionality, multiple developer check-out, as well as custom keyboard mapping and macro support), in addition to customer references from similar completed projects.

“We are excited to add another industry leading organization to our portfolio of modernization customers, and look forward to working together to drive the project to a successful completion.”, said Cameron Jenkins, EVP of Modern Systems.

Modern Systems is excited to commence work on the project, and is committed to providing an exemplary experience for this customer. The entire modernization process is planned to take twelve months. Once completed, the customer will have a faster, more integrated, secure and modern application framework from which to continue to service their own customers, and grow their business.
