BANGKOK, Dec. 28, 2017 /PRNewswire/KOREA IT TIMES -- Most people will spend time with their families to celebrate New Year. SweetRing has launched a survey on Thai people about 10 inevitable questions when they meet with family. From these questions, the most frequently asked questions are questions about love and money.

The most annoying and frequently asked questions during the New Year festival are:

  • When to get married
  • When are you going to have a boyfriend or girlfriend
  • Does your partner's family have a business
  • What is your job now
  • How much salary do you get
  • How much bonus do you get this year
  • When are you going to have children
  • Did you gain weight
  • When are you going to buy a house
  • What did you invest this year

The most frightening word for a Thai girl is "marriage". SweetRing app reveals that marriage is the most popular topic when they meet families in festivals and also the topic that they don't want to talk about. Chayanin, 28, says she will be asked about her marriage every year and she always answers "I haven't met the right person". Her family will ignore her answer and ask this question again every year. Another annoying question is the question about financial status. "I don't want to be compared with another family member," said Jirapan, 30. They felt those questions are sensitive, so they usually just avoid them by pretending to take a phone call.

Even though they have partners, their families often invite their lovers to visit them and celebrate this special occasion together. The survey also found that 62% of young Thai people often celebrate festivals with their loved ones' families. The most frequently asked questions are about job and marriage. The family especially women's side often asks their future sons-in-law hard questions. Most people will feel uncomfortable and awkward. They said that if they encountered such problems, they might ask to go to the bathroom or smile and divert the conversation topic to another way or even ask for help from a friend to call in. New Year is a good time to meet with family and get together again but don't forget to prepare and get ready for these questions.
