Kim Young-sam, Former President Republic of Korea/Summit President, was present at the Summit of Honor on Atoms for Peace and Environment (SHAPE 2010) on March 11. At the Grand Intercontinental Hotel he gave a welcoming speech and said, "It is my great pleasure to welcome world's distinguished leaders in atoms for peace and environment to SHAPE 2010."
Here he noted how the world's nuclear power industry is moving into a nuclear renaissance. "This industry is reviving to address the depletion of fossil energy resources and the global climate change. Nuclear renaissance, however, it may increase the risk of nuclear proliferation and high level wastes. In order to protect the peace and environment of the world, we should explore multi-national efforts to overcome the global challenges."
SHAPE 2010 is convened in Seoul as a new summit of world's renowned policy experts in order to prepare for potential issues with the nuclear renaissance.
