Google Goggles

Google is set on taking over the Korean mobile market by introducing several new features of its mobile search technology that is based on voice and image recognition. On March 18, Google introduced several new features for its Android phones including voice recognition search, image recognition search and GIS based navigation system in a press meeting held at the Seoul Finance Center in Yeoksam-dong.

These new features could be described as cloud computing that provides accurate information as possible in the most convenience way for users. One of the features that Google is emphasizing is voice recognition search, which allows users to search information by using their voice. On top of that, voice recognition will provide the user to send SMS messages by voice. Furthermore, it will be able to convert one language into another, which will allow speakers without a common language to communicate with one another in real time.

Google Goggles is a visual search application for Android phones by taking photos. If you want to search information by taking a photo, you can simply open Google Goggles, fill as much of the screen as possible with the object and take a picture. Than Google goggles creates search queries based on images instead of typed-in keywords. If you point your phone at the specific landmark, Google Goggles displays the name and information of the landmark by using GPS.

Unfortunately, these features that Google has introduced have not yet been launched commercially, and Google still has compatibility problems for the Korean language. Furthermore, there are speculations on the issue whether Google will be launching an Internet Data Center (IDC), which will allow Google to become a leader in Korea's mobile industry.
