
Building a dedication ceremony of Jeju Science Park will be held at the Elite Building in Jeju Science Park on Mar. 25 at 11 AM in order to build knowledge-based industries such as biotechnologies and Information and Communications.
The prime minister, the first vice minister for Land, Water and Construction, the Governor of Jeju Special Self-governing Province, and the Ambassador of Malaysia to the Republic of Korea will participate in the ceremony with more than 300 officials from cutting-edge technology industries to celebrate the dedication of Jeju Science Park.
Jeju Science Park is located in Ara-dong (1,090,000 ㎡) on a site with superb scenic beauty, pleasant environment and cutting-edge knowledge-based businesses such as IT and BT will be moving into Jeju Science Park. Thirty-five enterprises and organizations such as Daum Communication, Estsoft and Korea Basic Science Institute have confirmed their intention to move in and start construction. Moreover, some enterprises are in the process of moving into support facilities (Smart, Elite Building).
Jeju Science Park is recorded as the first completed project among Jeju Free International City Development Center's (JDC) six core projects. The knowledge-based businesses that Jeju obtained exactly meets 21st century needs as well as its traditional tourism business. As national projects such as Smart Grid Complex and Telematics Complex get underway in Jeju, a wide range of enterprises are interested in moving into Jeju Science Park.
Jong-Il Byon, the chief director of Jeju Free International City Development Center (JDC) said, "To promote Jeju Science Park as JDC's basic infrastructure and position it as an influential international science park, we will build clusters of domestic and international enterprises, local universities, organizations and as well as to create strong networks with well-known science parks abroad."
After the ceremony, a seminar on "the role of Science Park in enterprise's success" will be held. Nam-Pyo Suh, President of KAIST, Joon-Taik Park, President of Korea Basic Science Institute, Jong-Hyun Lee, President of Asia Science Park Association, and Mun Hou CHEW, Vice President of Singapore Science Park, will give presentations on the theme.
