Mirae Asset’s chairman Park Hyun-joo, who has been advocating “Caring Capitalism,” has donated his dividends for the eighth year in a row. Chairman Park decided to donate all of the 2017 dividends worth 1.6 billion won that he received from Mirae Asset Global Investment at its shareholders meeting on the 30th of last month.

The dividends donated by Chairman Park for the past eight years amount to a total of 21.6 billion won. Park’s dividend donation, which started in 2010, has been used for scholarships and social welfare projects in the Mirae Asset Park Hyun-joo Foundation. In 2000, Chairman Park established the Mirae Asset Park Hyun-joo Foundation with a private equity fund of 7.5 billion won.

“The world is changing rapidly, but we must not lose its warmth. This year, we will increase the social contribution fund and the number of scholarship students at home and abroad,” said Chairman Park in his New Year’ speech.

Accordingly, Mirae Asset plans to increase the number of overseas scholarships, which are the representative social contribution projects of Mirae Asset, by 100 to support 600 students per year this year. The International Exchange Scholars Program, which began in 2007, has increased from 400 in 2016 to 500 students.

So far, 4,517 students have been sent to 45 countries from developed countries such as the United States and Germany to emerging markets such as Mexico, Turkey, and Kazakhstan.

In addition, Mirae Asset has supported about 230,000 talented students through various educational programs and social welfare projects, including economic and career education, cultural experience in Shanghai and ‘full of hope’ book support.

Furthermore, executives and employees are working with neighbors in need through donation movements such as ‘I love you’ and regular volunteer activities.
