Collaborative Meeting in 3D content and animation between KDC and Jinlin Province, China held in Seoul on Mar. 28, 2010

On March 28, the General Department of Commerce from the Jilin Province in China visited Korea with carefully selected content and animation companies. The nation's highly influential entertainment company, Jang-choon, was one of the chosen companies. On the first day of their arrival, they held a conference with KDC in Central Seoul to seek future collaboration.

"High speed Internet, IPTV, and software is rapidly developing in China. Not to mention, it is also now under great support from the government. The government believes that within a year or two, the nation will complete a system that could fully support both communication and Internet," Hyo Yu, the Vice Director of the General Department of Commerce said.

Hyo Yu, Vice Director further noted, "We have a lot of catching up to do. We believe that inspiration comes from actual experience. We will help many IT-related businesses to aim high and think big by supporting IT developed countries such as Japan, Korea, and India, which are the IT juggernauts in Asia. We want to learn and feel the countries ourselves in the process of China's digitalization."

Kim Tae-sup, CEO of KDC, notes the point of business collaboration between KDC and Changchun city

President Kim Tae-sup of KDC stated that one of KDC's long term visions is to build a factory in China that produces 3D equipment. There KDC can freely lend and install 3D activators to the local theaters' projectors to help convert 2D films to 3D. Could then, a profit from the viewers be shared  Hyo Yu sought that the idea was quite feasible, yet emphasized the importance of making films in partnership. "If China develops, while Korea provides core technologies, computing 2D films as 3D movies could easily be done and the fortune could be shared. However, a proper step is to collaborate with Chinese companies before signing a partnership with the theaters," the vice director advised.

Although the culture industry is a business that involves the complexity of a country's philosophy, tradition, history, and dignity, the modern countries believe that growing culture industry is inevitable. The question is, how do we form a partnership with other countries in the most legit and effective way.
