According to People's Daily, China and DPRK will collaborate and build two hydro-electric dams on the Yalu River. One dam would be built at Wangjianglou in China's northeastern Jilin province and the other at Changchuan. The electricity from both dams will provide new growth engines for Jilin and DPRK.
The cost for these two hydropower stations will be about 1.1 billion yuan (US$161 million). The combined power will generate approximately 300 million kilowatt hours of electricity once completed and construction begins this year.
The Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao stated, "China will rejoin it would rejoin the six-nation denuclearization talks aimed at ensuring a nuclear-free Korea Peninsula."
