Samsung SDS (CEO In Kim), announced that it has signed a contract worth US$440 million (KRW 500 billion) with Kuwait Oil Company (KOC) on April 1 in Kuwait to implement the "Integrated Security System of KOC Facilities".
This contract is the largest global ICT service project in Korean history and in particular, it is in line with the Korean government's initiatives that encourage Korean ICT companies to expand its presence in global market.
Implementation of the integrated security system is a turnkey project that "covers the whole process of design, implementation, and maintenance of the security system that combines physical security, intelligence, and IT security."
Alfred S. Koh, Senior Executive Vice President of the Public & SIE Division of Samsung SDS said, "Based on this project, we will expand the market by participating in similar projects for integrated security.
Last year, Samsung SDS, which established itself as a "global ICT (Information & Communication Technology) service provider" by merging with Samsung Networks at the beginning of this year, made the greatest achievements in global business in its history.
Samsung SDS proved its capabilities by implementing various systems such as the e-procurement system for Vietnam and Costa Rica, the administration information system for Japan, and the subway AFC system for China and India. On March 22, Kazuhiro Haraguchi, Japan's Minister of Internal Affairs and Communications visited the company and was impressed by its technical capabilities in e-government projects such as the e-procurement system and the NCIA system.
Starting from 2010, Samsung SDS plans to step up its efforts in global business and be the first in the Korean industry to increase the share of revenue from global business to 20 percent.
