DPRK has permitted Chinese tour groups to visit DPRK starting on April 12. This is hot off the heels of DPRK freezing S. Korea's assets at Mt. Kumgang and to seek a new partner, which happened within the week (here). An official from the Chinese tourism stated that the first group of 400 Chinese tourists will visit DPRK on April 12 and 24. Also, sometime soon Chinese veterans who fought in the Korean War will be able to visit DPRK in memory of their lost comrades.

According to u-Tour International Travel Service Company in Beijing claims that most Chinese tourists who will visit DPRK will have a sense of nostalgia and especially for the people who are over 45 years old.  U-Tour has launched a six-day tour for the areas of: Panmunjom (signing of the Korean War Armistice), the Korea-China Friendship Tower and moreover, the beautiful scenery.

China National Tourism Administration had approved the DPRK as a tourism hotspot in 2008, but the DPRK tours had not been officially launched due to rules and regulations.
