Asus, Msi, and many other leading brands’ netbooks leave a common impression: there is no silver without its dross.  Netbook or wind book users are satisfied with the convenience and lightness of the products, yet have to compromise with the lack of hardware capacity and CD-ROM drive.  CNS Co., LTD (www.i-odd.com) at Hall 19 of CeBIT 2009 displays their Portable Virtual Rom, iodd external hardware as a solution.  A slim and light external hard drive functions as a CD/DVD emulator and an external power adapter is not needed.  The features don’t end there.  Since the front side of the iodd is an OLED display panel and the back side is covered in aluminum, no matter how long a user turns it on it never heats up.

 

“By simply connecting the iodd to a computer with a USB cable and pushing the file selection switch to select any ISO file, automatic loading begins,” explained Director Ko Bong-seok of CNS. The name CNS stands for Computer and Storage.  CNS’ motivation to produce a portable virtual ROM began last December.  “In companies, there are many Linux servers.  In order to install an OS on the company’s Linux server, ODD must be installed to each of them, yet CDs must be burned every three months to update the OS depending on the amount of upgrades.  Those CDs are nothing but garbage in the end.  Since the IT trend is finding solutions for an environmentally-friendly future, we researched and developed this product and came up with iodd.”  CNS iodd is currently listed as one of the top ten products in Korea, and is soon to be listed as a world premier first product with numerous patents.
