
Visitors gathered at Coex Hall in Seoul for Korea's Public Procurement Expo 2010, which was an exposition to promote quality products and environment-friendly products. This three day event was held from April 21-23, with companies and visitors from around the world participating.
This year's event marked the 11th annual KOPPEX exposition, and it provided domestic and international companies to discuss information about public procurement and to create business opportunities. Hosted by Korea Public Procurement Service, Korea Federation of Small Medium Businesses, and the Korea Economic Daily, a total of 164 companies participated, showcasing about 463 different products.
A total of about 32,000 visitors attended this exposition. The participating companies were mostly categorized within the Excellent Products Hall, which meant they showcased their excellent products. The remaining companies were categorized in the Green Growth Hall, which meant they showcased their environmental-friendly products.
The main objective of KOPPEX 2010 was to facilitate a low carbon, green growth through green procurement. In addition, they wanted to provide small and medium sized enterprises to exhibit their latest technology. Overall, this exposition provided visitors an opportunity to see products that are high in quality as well as environmental-friendly. Visitors also were able to see new technology and solutions for renewable energy.
The exhibition hall was separated into seven different areas, which included the green growth hall, the excellent products hall, the government procurement hall, the allied brand hall, the "global zone" overseas market expansion hall, the knowledge-networking hall, and the cultural products hall. The exposition covered about 10,368 square meters inside Coex's Hall A.
The Administrator of Public Procurement Service of Korea, Noh Dae-jae, was spotted on sight at the tape cutting ceremony. He said, "KOPPEX 2010 is to promote high quality products in new technology and green industry to the public procurement market. This year, we have invited more international buyers to support small and medium sized businesses to expand their global marketing. Through the annual event, we will try to establish more partnership with foreign buyers to become a globally "Renowned Expo" event, so more global buyers can come to Korea in the future,"The Public Procurement Service of Korea has carefully selected 587 outstanding products from 169 companies for procurement market. Especially, global buyers from the U.S., the U.K., China, and France have participated to widen the market for small and medium sized businesses and venture companies. 1:1 business meetings and consulting sessions were available for potential buyers. Also, foreign public procurement system presentations are scheduled to be made to share knowledge and to expand the network."

All participating companies were able to introduce their quality products through this event. Participants included small and medium sized companies as well as major companies. This event not only allowed them to showcase their quality products, but also receive information about green procurement through business meetings. Participants were able to share their information about procurement to other companies as well as receive information. Well-known companies such as Samsung Electronics and LG were present at this event, and they were able to showcase some of their newest and high quality products as well as their environmental-friendly products.
Through this exposition, Samsung was able to showcase many of their newest environmental friendly technology. For this event, Samsung's slogan was "Planet First." Their products were placed in categories, which included eco-paradise, good-design, community center, and ubiquitous school. Their AV zone showcased their 3D LED televisions, netbooks, and smartphones. Their other zones showcased vacuum cleaners, air conditioners, and other solutions and technologies.
LG Electronics also participated in this event, and they showcased many of their latest environmental friendly technology. They separated their booths into a green school zone, green office zone, energy solution zone, digital display zone, health care zone, and security solution zone. They showcased their next generation system air conditioner, a ventilation system, central control system, 3D TV notebook, air cleaners, and vacuum cleaners. All of these products were in the category of environmental friendly products.
Overall, KOPPEX 2010 provided a good opportunity for all participating companies to showcase their newest products. KOPPEX 2010's initiative for "Low Carbon, Green Growth" was successful in that many companies showcased their latest environmental-friendly products which led to the promotion for green technology.
