Choi Jeong-woo was appointed as the new Chairman of POSCO. POSCO’s new Chairman Choi Jeong-woo was elected as an internal director at the extraordinary shareholders’ meeting held on July 27th, and was elected as the 9thChairman of POSCO Group.
Chairman Choi held and inauguration ceremony and presented a new vision called ‘With POSCO’, and said POSCO would have to rearm to the new value demanded by the current era in order to take a new path towards a 100 year company.
In addition, there arethree reforms directions to achieve this vision which are: business with POSCO to create value with customers, Society with POSCO to create a better society; People with POSCO to create a corporate culture of trust and creativity, and establish a <New POSCO Road>.
In order to accomplish the three reform directions, Chairman Choi has established a safe and economical steel production system in the business side to strengthen the competitiveness of the global steel industry and enhance the competitiveness of the entire domestic steel industry ecosystem. Furthermore, he stated that the project within the group will find and relocate related projects with high synergy, and the project of competition will be constantly reorganized.
Moreover, POSCO will upgrade its social contribution activities to create social values for a better society, and each of POSCO’s executives and employees will also be invited to make a new corporate culture of POSCO to develop a mature corporate culture that pursues the values of co-existence, consideration and symbolism together for a new era and future generation.
