KT has signed a contract with Ascend Care Limited, a Russian and European digital healthcare company, at the 4th East Asian Economic Forum held at Lotte Hotel in Vladivostok from October 11 to 13.
Through this agreement, the two companies agreed to launch a market survey to jointly enter the Russian digital healthcare market in 2019. To that end, KT will provide a mobile health diagnosis solution with ICT technology and support local marketing, while Accenture will establish a Russian government certification, sales and A/S channel for its digital healthcare solutions.
"We have worked with government agencies, medical institutions and solution partners to advance into the Eurasia market, and as a result we have a chance to supply digital healthcare to Russia, which is the dominant and largest market in Eurasia," said KT President Koo Hyun-mo "KT will go beyond Russia to advance into Eurasia based on this business agreement."
Meanwhile, KT established digital healthcare solutions and platforms at Busan University Hospital and 12 hospitals in Kazakhstan in 2017.
KT is also piloting a solution for Seoul National University Hospital (director Jeon Sang-hoon), Russian Railways, one of the world's three largest rail carriers, and remote diagnosis and cooperation solution in Trans-Siberian Railway.
Besides Eurasia, KT is also working on global telemedicine projects based on digital healthcare solutions in Cambodia, Bangladesh, Rwanda, and Uganda.
