Elektronik, an electronics magazine distributed in Germany, Switzerland and Austria, selects the most novel and innovative products by sending questionnaires to about 5,500 engineers each year, and selects the Product of Year based on those questionnaires.
Seoul Semiconductor won the award in 2006 with their semiconductor light source for AC, Acriche. It was also selected in 2009 for its Flash LED. This year is the third time, this time for their P7 series.
The awarded Z-Power LED P7 series is a unique LED package having a brightness of 900 lumens and light efficiency of 90 lumens/watt, making it the most efficient LED light and about 36% brighter than incandescent lamps. Also, it emits light in 360 degrees which makes it simple to point its light in the desired direction only. Since last January, P7 was also selected for the top rank in the 2008 LED Top 10 News of LED's Magazine.
A staff member of Seoul Semiconductor said: "Awards of our products in Korea and overseas mean that our technological superiority has been recognized," and "We expect those products will contribute to a sales increase." He added: "We will make more efforts for our technological advancement by keeping the rule of investing 10% in R&D and aiming at being one of World’s Top 3 in 2012."
