Doosan Infracore CEO Sohn Dong-youn was severely reprimanded by lawmakers for allegedly stealing and misusing technical data from suppliers.
Rep. Song Gap-seok of the ruling Democratic Party of Korea asserted at a parliamentary inspection on Oct. 12, "Dusan Infracore asked INO Corporation, a supplier, to lower the delivery price of air compressors by 18 percent, but INO Corporation rejected the demand. After that, Dusan Infracore stole the technology and handed over it to other company. After the other company succeeded in developing parts, it completely stopped dealing with the existing one."
"By doing so, Doosan Infracore broke the basic survival grounds of suppliers beyond the win-win issue," Rep. Song pointed out.
There has also been a series of attacks on the allegation that Doosan Infracore illegally used technical data from Cosmo ENG, a supplier of cooling water storage tanks.
"Doosan Infracore rejected the request of Cosmo ENG to raise the delivery price and illegally delivered 38 drawings made by the supplier to five other companies and confirmed the possibility of their manufacture, violating the Clause 3 of the Article 12 of the Subcontract Law," said Rep. Eo Ki-goo of the ruling Democratic Party of Korea.
In response, Sohn said, "We believe unauthorized disclosure of partners' data is a major crime. We admit the mistake and educate my employees well."
The Fair Trade Commission earlier fined Doosan Infracore 379 million won in July with a correction order on suspicion of stealing and misusing its subcontractors` technical data.
