POSCO E&C is making a strong push for introducing Smart Construction to improve construction productivity.
POSCO E&C held a forum with the Korea Institute of Architecture, the Korea Institute of Construction and Management and Hanyang University on Oct. 30 under the theme of "Smart Construction: Lean Construction, IPD & BIM for Building Project."
More than 100 scholars and construction workers were invited to participate in the event. They discussed the status of the Integrated Project Delivery (IPD), an advanced ordering method in the construction industry, and the direction of the Korean construction industry.
Lean Construction is a construction management technique that removes all elements of waste per process from design to construction stage and maximizes quality while minimizing inputs such as manpower and equipment. POSCO E&C introduced the current status of its Smart Construction.
"The POSCO E&C's announcement will be a good example for other construction companies preparing for the Smart Construction," said Ahn Yong-han, a professor at Hanyang University.
