SK Group Chairman Chey Tae-won visited Washington, D.C. in order to expand the North American business and actively promoted SK's competitiveness.
Chairman Chey attended the “SK Night” event held at SK Hynix's branch in Washington D.C. on Nov. 28 (local time). At a meeting with local leaders in the political, business and academic circles in the U.S. on the same day, Chairman Chey introduced SK Group's business performance in the U.S. and emphasized the need for business expansion through continuous investment and close cooperation.
About 200 dignitaries, including Senator Jim Inhofe of Oklahoma, U.S. Congressman Suzan Delbene and former U.S. Secretary of State Colin Powell attended the event.
"SK has been able to hold the SK night in Washington, D.C., the heart of the U.S., as a result of SK's continued partnership with the U.S. until now. Based on our investments and efforts so far, we need to create more cooperative models that can be recognized in the global market," Chairman Chey said.
“SK has made inroads into the U.S., including the West, Texas and the East, and recently announced a plan to invest 1.6 billion dollars in construction of electric vehicle battery plant in Georgia and hire 1,400 employees,” he said.
Prior to attending the event, Chey also held meetings with Georgia Senator Johnny Isakson; Kurt M. Campbell, the Asia Group chairman; and Edwin J. Feulner Jr., president of the Heritage Foundation.
