The prosecution wrapped up the investigation by indicting a number of Samsung Group and Everland officials in connection with the Samsung Everland’s alleged attempt to collapse the labor union.

The Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office said on Jan. 1 that it indicted 13 people, including Kang Kyung-hoon, vice president of Samsung Electronics and Lee, a former head of Everland personnel affair support office, without detention on charges of violating the labor union law and obstructing business.

Kang was in charge of the overall labor and management of the group at the personnel support team of Samsung Group's Future Strategy Office. Lee worked for the labor-related business at Everland.

According to the prosecution, they are suspected of conducting operations against the labor union based on labor management strategies prepared by the group's future strategy office in July 2011 when Cho Jang-hee and others were moving to establish a union in Everland ahead of the implementation of the multiple labor union system.

Samsung created a company-dominated union and signed a collective agreement before implementing the multiple union system, preventing the original union from having the right to sign a collective agreement.

The prosecution believes that the Samsung side actually led the establishment of the Everland company-dominated union and also intervened in the original labor union's activities from June 2011 to March 2018.
