Terrestrial analog TV broadcasts will close up in 100 days in Wooljin, Gangjin, and Danyang. Korea Communications Commission (KCC) addressed that the pilot project for digital TV broadcasting has been going smoothly in Wooljin. Within a month, digital converters will be prevalent to more than 40 percent of the supported target. Also, at the end of May, affordable digital TV sales will commence in the demonstration areas such as Woojin, Gangjin, and Danyang. There will also be assistance for digital TV purchase costs(KRW 100 thousand per house) for low-income people who watch national broadcasting through an antenna.

The government support application has been registered steadily in the Gangjin and Danyang area, and as soon as the digital TV broadcasts starts in June, there will be support for the supply and installation of the digital converter.

KCC is looking for effective means of promoting a successful digital transition pilot project so that local people could benefit from high-definition digital TV. Wooljin, Kangjin, and Danyang will shut down analog TV broadcasts and transition to digital broadcasts, marking the first transition in Korea.
