Samsung SDS is stepping up its cloud business by securing global IT new technology through investments. Samsung SDS said on March 6 that it has invested in Iguazio, Israel, a leader in the serverless computing field, which is regarded as the next generation cloud technology, through venture investment funds.

Serverless computing refers to the service that cloud service providers build and operate infrastructure, and customers pay for actual amount of resources used in running applications.

By using the serverless computing service, customers can ease concerns about securing cloud infrastructure as they can get the server resources they need right away from the provider and use automated post-use return processing system.

Thanks to such advantages, start-ups focusing on development and businesses looking to increase cloud infrastructure cost efficiency are very interested in serverless computing.

Samsung SDS pushed for this investment to strengthen related technical cooperation by loading the serverless platform of Iguazio on its PaaS (Platform as a Service) and delivering it as a service.

"With this investment, we added serverless computing service to the existing services such as Virtual Machine (VM), Container Cloud. We will expand our collaboration with advanced technology companies to offer differentiated cloud services," said Yoon Shim, vice president in charge of cloud business at Samsung SDS.
