The closing ceremony of IASP 2010 Daedeok was held at the Daejeon Convention Center (DCC) on May 26th and put a period to the four-day event.
At the closing ceremony the "Daedeok Declaration" was announced, calling for bolstering green networks between global science parks and laying the foundations for cooperation in the development of low-carbon, green technology.
By announcing the Declaration, IASP members agreed to help science parks, as hubs of intellectual property and technology, play a leading role in driving sustainable growth of the global economy and to set forth new visions for the future.
What's more, the best practices of Green Growth will be shared by all IASP member nations. Meanwhile, those members who have been threatened by environmental changes or are technologically underdeveloped will be given the opportunity to learn advanced members' know-how on Green Growth. In addition, IASP members agreed to step up financial efforts for technology transfer and capability building.
The Director General of the IASP, Joan Bellavista, delivered a speech saying that IASP 2010 Daedeok would be remembered as the biggest event in IASP history thanks to Daedeok Innopolis' painstaking preparatory work - for example, the exhibition of state-of-the-art green technology and the Daedeok Declaration and active participation from member nations. He stressed that based on what was discussed and agreed upon at IASP 2010 Daedeok, the IASP and global science parks have to lead green growth as well as economic growth.
Next year, the IASP World Conference will be hosted by Copenhagen, Denmark, followed by 2012 IASP World Conference in Tallin, Estonia.
