Korea Electric Power Corp. (KEPCO) signed an MOU with Siemens to cooperate in promoting the smart building verification business between the two companies at the KEPCO Art Center in Yangjae-dong, Seoul on March 22.
The MOU was signed between Lee Jong-hwan, head of KEPCO's technical innovation division, and Zimmermann Frank, executive director of Siemens' building automation business, a KEPCO spokesman said.
Both sides have agreed to work together to create new business models for technology exchange and energy fields following the linkage between K-SEM of KEPCO and Siemens' solutions (Navigator, Demand Flow, etc.).
The KEPCO-type smart building verification project will be implemented at the UNIST and Chungnam Techno Park. It is a new concept of zero energy building construction, which combines security, heating, and parking systems based on KEPCO's energy management system, K-SEM.
It is expected to reduce deployment costs through an integration of individual systems, and apply artificial intelligence analysis to provide new consulting services such as energy efficiency improvement by building, demand resource management, and prediction of individual device failures, the spokesman said.
"To meet the government's energy conversion policy, we will actively pursue energy efficiency projects to curb the power cost increase as much as possible and create an efficient energy use environment," said Lee.
