On May 27, Hyung Tae-gun, Standing Commissioner of Korea Communications Commission greeted Tran Duc Lai, Deputy Minister of Ministry of Information and Communications of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam (MIC) and discussed ITC cooperation between the two countries.

Deputy Minister Tran Duc Lai showed his gratitude and celebrated the successful hosting of the Broadcast and Communications Council of Ministers and special events.  Also he said that the advanced Korean ICT industry and services are very impressive and he looks forward to expanding cooperation with South Korea.

With this, Standing Commissioner Hyun emphasised that in order to proliferate digital-based economy and culture, preventing dysfunctions such as revealing personal information and spam is essential. Also, he hopes to build regular cooperation channel in the field of privacy sector so that the countries could avoid those problems.

Deputy Minister Tran Duc Lai replied that Vietnam is well aware of the importance of cooperation to prevent dysfunction. And the two countries need to discuss concrete cooperation agreements about dysfunctions.

In addition, Standing Commissioner Hyung requested cooperation for Vietnam entry of Korea's ICT technologies and services. Deputy Minister Tran Duc Lai said that "I will facilitate the entry of Korean companies in Vietnam and put some efforts to improve the investment environment," he also was committed to active support for Korea's 2014 ITU Plenipotentiary Conference, plenipotentiary bid

Last October, Korea signed an MOU with Vietnam. The main areas of cooperation are IPTV, digital mobile TV broadcasting and communication convergence services, WiBro, 3G mobile communications services.  Agreement included privacy and information protection technology exchange and joint program production broadcasting programs amongst other items.
