Mirae Asset Chairman Park Hyun-joo will donate the entire amount of dividends for 2018, which was finalized at a shareholders' meeting of Mirae Asset Global Investments on March 29.
Park's donation of dividends, which has been running since 2010, amounts to a total of 23.2 billion won over the nine years, including the 1.6 billion won this time.
This is the only dividend Park receives from all affiliates of Mirae Asset Group. Donations will be used for the promotion of student scholarship and social welfare projects through Mirae Asset Park Hyun-joo Foundation. In the next year after its foundation, Park created the Mirae Asset Education Foundation in 1998, and in 2000 he made 7.5 billion won in private funds to set up the Mirae Asset Park Hyun-joo Foundation.
The Mirae Asset Park Hyun-joo Foundation, which marks its 19th anniversary this year, is spreading the sharing culture through various scholarship projects and social welfare activities. The "Future Asset Overseas Exchange Scholarship Program," which was established as the country's largest scholarship project starting with the first selection in 2007, has sent 5,117 students to 50 countries so far.
In addition, the company provides various domestic and international education programs, including 3,391 scholarship students in Korea, economic and career education, and global cultural experiences, with the cumulative number of participants reaching 270,000.
Meanwhile, Park said in his New Year's message to executives and employees last year that the world is changing fast, but we must not lose our warmth. "The social contribution activities of Mirae Asset are based on the spirit of love for society and people."
