KT Chairman Hwang Chang-kyu urged all members of KT Group to make efforts to provide the highest level of 5G services to the public.
In particular, he stressed that the practice and inertia should be eliminated so that accidents like Ahyeon Fire do not repeat again.
Hwang made the remarks during a "2019 Group Executives Workshop" at the Bundang Grand Auditorium in Seongnam, Gyeonggi Province, on April 26. The event was attended by Hwang, executives from KT and 38 groups, as well as some 430 senior managers.
Based on lessons left behind by Ahyeon Fire, the workshop was organized to strengthen its commitment for the world's best 5G service, along with providing perfect communication services.
Hwang called on executives to stick to the basics and called on all group companies to make more efforts to provide stable 5G quality based on "Single KT." In order to prevent a recurrence of Ahyeon Fire, He explained, "We will establish a safety control center that oversees communication-related safety maintenance, facility management and fire prevention."
"Only a painful reflection of Ahyeon Fire and fundamental and definite changes will be the way to regain the trust of customers and the public," he said. "Based on the basics and principles, we will try to provide the highest level of 5G services."
