Hanwha Q Cells said on May 7 that it has supplied 2.529 megawatt (MW) of solar power module Q.PLUS to 21 large discount stores in northern Italy along with Q.FLAT, which is a commercial installation solution.
Q.PLUS is the world's first polycrystal high-efficiency module that Hanwha Q Cells succeeded in mass-producing. Q.FLAT is a commercial solution that can reliably install products on flat roofs.
Since Italy declared in 2017 that it would phase out coal power, the solar energy market has been growing, with the focus on housing and commerce.
"The solar energy advantage is that it can build distributed power plants in idle downtown areas such as the roof of large discount stores," said Hanwha Q Cells president Kim Hee-cheol. "Haehwa Q Cells will not only sell modules, but also strengthen its market dominance by launching residential and commercial solutions that are specialized in the European market."
Hanwha Q Cells achieved the top market share in the German solar energy market last year, and has the largest share in major solar module markets such as the United States, Japan and South Korea.
