
Under directive of the Korean Government's decree for environmentally friendly fumigation of archives and cultural properties, Biomist Technology Co. Ltd. developed Biomist. Biomist is a fumigation chamber for organic archives and cultural properties. The company also develop the fumigating product that is inserted into the chamber in order to protect property from insects and microorganisms. Biomist uses 100 percent natural ingredients to fumigate cultural properties. TAPPI (the Technical Association of the Pulp and Paper Industry) standards were used in effectiveness tests and Biomist's products and processes showed that they can achieve results with little damage.

Biomist have won a scree of awards including a new, excellent technology award from the Ministry of Knowledge and the Economy. The products involve over 60 patents with more in progress.
Established in 1998, the company now have their own research center in Seoul. The product used inside the fumigation chamber can also remove mould but it is a concentrated preventer of mould, insects and microorganisms rather than a cure. Further, with the advent of nanomaterials for forensic drug tracing through supply chains, the company said that it may also be possible to include such a component to the fumigation to deter theft of artifacts.

Biomist Technology Co. Ltd. serve Korea but have also exported to Malaysia, for their university education system and to Orlando in Florida.
The Biomist fumigator will be on display at the Coex center for the IACE (International Archival Culture Exhibition) until 6th June.
