Lenovo Korea said on May 27 that it has signed a strategic memorandum of understanding (MOU) with 42Maru to combine AI (Artificial Intelligence) technologies with smart devices, including AR and VR devices.
The agreement was made to integrate the Machine Reading Composition (MRC) based QA system and AI chatbot technology of 42Maru into Lenovo's smart devices. It is expected that AI Chatbot technology, which enables accurate and appropriate information delivery based on the QA system and machine learning that can be directly read and answered by AI, will provide innovative user experiences if it is applied to Lenovo's smart devices, a Lenova official said.
Lenovo, which is the world's top PC manufacturer, has been investing heavily in new smart device industries to improve the way modern people live by actively utilizing smart technologies such as AI and Internet of Things (IoT).
As part of such efforts, the company introduced its stand-alone VR headset "Lenover Mirage Solo" last year and 360-degree camera "Mirage Camera" for exclusive content production, and has been expanding its product lineup by releasing various smart devices such as "Lenover Smart Clock" and "Lenover Smart Tab" at this year's CES.
42Maru is a technology startup that accurately understands users' intention of question and develops Deep Semantic QA platform that can derive only one answer from vast unstructured data and is currently working with various companies such as corporate semantic search, deep learning-based interactive chatbots, and smart speakers.
"If 42Maru's artificial intelligence technology is integrated through the agreement, it is expected to further enhance convenience for businesses and consumer customers who use Lenovo's smart devices," said Kang Yong-nam, CEO of Lenovo Korea, stressing that Lenovo will continue to constantly challenge new technological innovations and take the lead in cooperation to improve customer experiences.
