About 8,700 Genesis cars of Hyundai Motor will be recalled due to faulty production. According to the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport on July 18, 8,784 Genesis EQ900 (HI) and G80 (DH) cars produced and sold by Hyundai Motor were found to have leaked oil due to poor location of oil supply and hose connections, possibly causing a fire.
The affected vehicles have been undergoing free repairs by Hyundai Motor since February due to a simple defect, but the recall will be carried out this time as further investigation has confirmed a defect that interferes with safety operations.
The affected vehicles can be repaired free of charge (replacement of improved parts) at Hyundai Motor's service center and its official service partner, Bluehands, from July 19. Of the 8,784 units, 3,804 are included in the recall, although repairs have already been completed and no further action is required.
"At first, we judged that it was not a defect that interfered with safety standards and safety operations. However, it was changed to a recall as there was a possibility of a fire caused by excessive leakage in case of operating it continuously," a ministry official said.
At the same time, 2,671 BMW 535i imported and sold from BMW Korea were found to have leaked fuel due to heat from the connection of the low-pressure fuel pump due to errors in the production process, which could cause the engine to shut down.
In the case of the BMW M3 290 cars, it has been confirmed that the electronic equipment may not operate properly due to abrasion of tin coating on the battery-cable contact terminals owing to the vibration of the vehicle and the increasing load caused by the use of electrical equipment.
