SK Telecom said on July 31 that it will hold the "SKT 5GX 1 million countdown" event from Aug. 1 to 28.
Ahead of achieving its 1 millionth 5G subscription, SK Telecom will offer "Jeju Luxury Travel Package" to its 800,000th, 850,000, 900,000, 950,000 and 1 millionth subscribers through the event.
SK Telecom, which surpassed the world's first 500,000 5G subscribers in late June, is cruising toward achieving its 1 million 5G subscribers.
SK Telecom will also open "5GX Cool Beach" at four major beaches across the country with the start of the 1 million countdown. The company launched the "5GX Summer Festival" on July 24 to bolster customer benefits and help revitalize the local economy in the summer vacation season. "5GX Cool Beach" is a 5G specialized beach where you can enjoy 5G content and benefits based on a solid 5G network.
At the same time, SK Broadband said it achieved 5 million IPTV subscribers on July 30.
The company cited investments in Kid's contents such as Pororo and Robocar poli, which started in 2002, and the recent release of "living fairy tales" and "Playsongs home" as the key to achieving the 5 million mark.
In addition, after securing its own technical skills from the beginning, the company also enhanced its set-top box by combining UHD set-top box and artificial intelligence integrated set-top box.
SK Broadband said it will make efforts to establish itself as a media-lead provider through active investments such as developing quality services and improving the viewing environment.
