To provide support for Korea's national soccer team during the World Cup, SK Telecom will host a cheering event that will be held at Hangang Park in the Banpo region on June 12, 2010. In the evening, Korea will be facing Greece in the 1st match of the preliminary round and spectators will be able to watch the game with many other passionate fans at this event.
Hangang Park was chosen as the location due to it's scenery and environment. Also, spectators will be able to have a clear view of the Han River and the nearby bridge. A large LED screen will be placed on top of the river so all spectators can enjoy the match.
Celebrities that will appear at this event include Kim Jang Hoon, Psy, MC Mong, Huisung, U-Kiss, 4 Minute and Noblane.
SK Telecom's Head of Marketing Area Bae Jun Dong stated, "This event is leading the way for other global countries to follow our culture of gathering fans and cheering together. The reason for the location is so that the spectators are able to shout loudly and be passionate about the game to hopefully give the soccer players strength and motivation. We hope the players play well and are able to be successful just like the 2002 World Cup."
