Hanwha Q Cells made an announcement on Sept. 18 that it will participate in 'Solar Power International 2019', which will be held in Salt Lake City, Utah, the U.S. for three days starting from Sept. 24 (local time).

Hanwha Q Cells, which has topped the U.S. residential solar energy market for two consecutive quarters this year, plans to continue its dominant position in the local market with the participation of the exhibition.

According to a recent report by Wood McKinsey of the U.S., Hanwha Q Cells rose to the top spot last year with 14.5 percent share in the U.S. residential solar energy market, beating Sun Power and LG Electronics, and widening the gap with the No. 2 spot this year with 27.0 percent in the first quarter and 27.6 percent in the second quarter.

At the exhibition, Hanwha Q Cells is planning to introduce a prototype of the Q.PEAK DUO, which has significantly increased its output compared to previous products, considering customers' preference for high-powered products.

If the existing general module is composed of 120 cells and 144 cells, the Q.PEAK DUO G9 consists of 132 cells and 156 cells, providing high power up to 455 Wp (watt peak).

In addition, the Q.PEAK DUO G6 Plus series released in the U.S. will be displayed, extending the warranty period of its products from 12 years to 25 years.

Meanwhile, Kim Dong-kwan, executive vice president of Hanwha Q Cells' overseas sales division, is also drawing attention due to his achievements.

Kim joined Hanwha Group in 2010 and worked for Hanwha SolarOne and Hanwha Q Cells, leading the solar energy business. Kim is the eldest son of Hanwha Group Chairman Kim Seung-youn.

Hanwha Chemical, the parent company of Hanwha Q Cells, has continued to post an operational surplus in its solar power business, recording 48.9 billion won in the first quarter and 32.7 billion won in the second quarter.
