[Toronto-Korea IT Times] The high-level officials of the Ontario Trade Mission have scheduled to visit South Korea from October13-15 (Minister, Victor Fedeli) and from October 17-19 (Minister, Ernie Hardeman). 

Victor Fedeli, Minister of Economic Development, Job Creation and Trade, and Ernie Hardeman, Minister of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs will lead an Ontario Trade Mission to South Korea. This is the first high-level visit since Ontario opened its office in Korea on September 2017.

Ontario accounts for 38% of Canada's GDP and is a leader in knowledge-based industries including automotive, IT, life sciences and financial services. The province’s pioneering research and development into artificial intelligence (AI) has gained Ontario a reputation as a world-renowned AI center. And as a result, the City of Toronto has been named North America’s fastest-growing tech market for the past two years. In fact, in 2018, Toronto added more tech jobs than any other city in North America including San Francisco and more than New York City, Seattle and Boston–combined.

It’s an exciting time for Ontario and the Korean companies and institutions we are working together to unlock the world-changing potential of AI. Samsung Electronics and LG Electronics are among the Korean firms that have recently established artificial intelligence labs in Toronto, Ontario, and have signed memoranda of understanding with Ontario universities. In addition, technology sharing and cooperation projects are underway in the fields of nuclear energy, renewable energy, nanotechnology, battery recycling, and blockchain.

An official of Ontario said, "Ontario’s commercial ties with Korea will continue to yield opportunities for Ontarians and Koreans, as we work together to promote trade and investment while making it easier to do business in our respective provinces/countries." also, "Our message to the world is that Ontario is open for business and we’re eager to strengthen the relationship we have with our Korean counterparts as we recognize it as an important underpinning of our mutual growth and prosperity." 

Ontario’s two-way trade with Korea is more than $5 Billion per year, while greenfield projects between Ontario and Korea have totaled more than $1.2 billion over the past 15 years.
