Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power (KHNP) co-organized with Korea Nuclear Export Industry Association (KNA) and KOTRA to hold the "APR Conference 2019" PR event sponsored by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy and the Korean Embassy in Poland at the Intercontinental Warsaw Hotel in Poland on Dec. 5.
About 100 guests from 30 Korean and Polish companies including KHNP, Korea Embassy in Poland, Poland Energy Ministry and Foreign Ministry, Poland Power Corporation (PGE), Poland Nuclear Research Institute (NCBJ), KEPCO Technology, Doosan Heavy Industries & Construction, KEPCO Nuclear Fuel, Daewoo Engineering and Construction attended the event.
Participants introduced Korean-style nuclear power plants, Korean nuclear power industry and localization experience, and held in-depth discussions on Poland's first nuclear plant acquisition issues, including how to finance nuclear power projects and foster nuclear energy manpower.
Through the event, KHNP promoted the capabilities of the Korean nuclear power industry and the excellence of the Korean nuclear power plant and expressed its willingness to participate in the new Polish nuclear power plant project.
The new Polish nuclear power plant project is one in which the Korean government, KHNP and Korea Nuclear Power Industry focus on winning orders for the exports of Korea-type nuclear power plants.
The Polish government plans to build six new nuclear power plants to replace aging power plants, provide stable power supply and secure national energy security.
“The event is aimed at sharing the experience of our nuclear power industry with Poland, expanding cooperation with the Polish nuclear industry and creating favorable public opinion on Korean nuclear power technology,” said Kim Sang-don, head of the KHNP's growth project division, adding that the company will lay the groundwork for the export of nuclear power plants to Poland based on such efforts in the future.
