Kyobo Life Insurance Chairman Shin Chang-jae's management that puts emphasis on people has received international acclaim.

He won the Humane Entrepreneurship Award from the International Council for Small Business (ICSB), the world's largest research group on small and medium-sized enterprises, for his efforts in humanistic stakeholder management.

Chairman Shin was selected as the first winner of the management award for his role in developing with all stakeholders over the past 20 years and achieving a virtuous cycle of sustainable management.

The award was newly established by the ICSB this year to help the United Nations successfully implement its Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) adopted and to promote the right entrepreneurship in the international community.

It was enacted in August under the influence of a "statement on the purpose of a company" released by the Business Roundtable (BRT), a consultative body of CEOs of major U.S. companies.

Chairman Shin is the flagship CEO who has led the Korean insurance industry over the past two decades. Based on his unique history of transforming from an obstetrician to an insurance company manager, he is well-known as a "manager who values people."

Based on a sustainable management philosophy of "seeking joint development with all stakeholders," he is spearheading "humanitarian stakeholder management" in which all stakeholders are respected as a person, not as a tool of business, and seek balanced growth.

Based on Shin's sustainable management philosophy, Kyobo Life Insurance is actively engaged in management activities to satisfy diverse stakeholders, such as leading insurance culture centered on customer security, transparent management centered on board of directors, establishing a win-win labor-management culture and family-friendly corporate culture, and social contribution activities that help beneficiaries stand on their own feet.
