Busan Metropolitan City plans to invest 78.2 billion won (UD$64.2million) to the digital information business, among them, 42.2 billion won (US$34.6 million) will be invested in the fourth industrial revolution technologies focused on blockchain and big data.

According to Busan Metropolitan Government, the city has finalized its plan to implement information services from 2016 to 2020. The plan of basic information service for the fourth industrial revolution era will be itemized into 7 areas: 'Smart Administration of Sharing and Communication', 'Energizing the Economy of Busan', 'Happy and Convenient City' and 'Efficient ICT Foundation' and 110 projects will be implemented, with 78.2 billion won (US$64.1million) to be invested.

In particular, 422 billion won (54%) will be invested in 22 smart technology leading projects suitable for the fourth industrial revolution era, such as blockchain, big data, and artificial intelligence.

Major projects include the creation of a blockchain regulatory free zone, data-based tourism and commercial districts and urban analysis projects. Also, it is the establishment of a smart transportation operation system and an intelligent unmanned and automated smart logistics system, operating of mobile AI centers, and establishment of a next-generation infrastructure of the Fire and Disaster Headquarters.
