The research center at the Incheon office of LG Electronics was closed after the family of its employee was confirmed to be infected with the new coronavirus.
According to LG Electronics, the family of an employee at its Incheon office was confirmed to be infected with the epidemic, and the company closed the research center in Incheon until Feb. 24.
The researchers at the Incheon office are working at home. Production and combined units outside the research center are on normal duty.
"We have completed the quarantine work over the weekend. This is an emergency measure to prevent the spread of new coronavirus and protect employees," LG Electronics said in a notice.
LG Electronics' Incheon campus is a state-of-the-art research facility that was completed in July 2013 with an investment of 310 billion won. It is a key base for LG Electronics' auto parts business and houses electric vehicle-related production, testing, and research facilities. Some 2,500 people, including business partners, will work.
"The family of the employee in question lives in Daegu, and the employee was also examined on Feb. 23 and the results have yet to be released," said an official at LG Electronics.
