In order to cope with the spread of the COVID-19 crisis, Citibank Korea will be the first in the banking sector to launch a telecommuting system for executives and employees of its headquarters.

The target is those who are judged to be able to work remotely among the company's executives and employees.

Citibank decided after an emergency meeting of its management on Feb. 25 to allow some executives and employees of its headquarters to work at home by April 2.

The teleworker is a person who can work remotely among the employees of the main office and should obtain approval from the department head.

If the coronavirus situation continues, the period of telecommuting for these executives and employees could be extended further.

Under the "Business Continuity Planning (BCP)," Citibank also strongly encouraged all executives and employees to wear masks in branches, centers and crowded spaces. All executives and employees are required to check their body temperature when entering the workplace, and employees who show symptoms such as high fever are not allowed into the office space.

Employees with suspected infection of COVID-19 should take a vacation or work at home until they recover.

If employees or family members of executives and employees have visited Daegu or Cheongdo areas since Feb. 15 or have been in close contact with residents of the areas, they should work at home for seven days, even if there are no symptoms.

The employees are required to check their health for seven days without going out of their homes. Working at home can be extended.

“To actively respond to the recent tense COVID-19 situation and protect bank executives and family members, customers and franchises, we decided to implement these measures immediately," a Citibank official said.
