In March 2010 researchers from laboratories, Orange Labs and Institut de Recherche en Communications et en Cybernetique de nantes (IRCCyn), began to lay out considerations for subjective assessments of viewing of 3DTV's and results were published. This tells us a few things, first of all that the base for making judgments in order to research Human Behavior and 3DTV is in the process of being established by working groups and little previous research may be transferable until it is established, in other words, no news.
But at Korea IT Times, we will also tell you things to the contrary. Namely, that while the establishment of technical information and viewing distances is pertinent, we have a hunch that what they are calling augmented reality these days is the convergence of research areas resulting from the convergence of these industries. This means that the behavioralists and psychologists may have more information than we first thought and are indeed reasonably far along in the determination of how 3DTV may impact behaviors.
Virtual Reality or VR research and instructional design centered on these facilities has been going on for a while, long before 3D research. What some have found is that enhancing learning is assisted by manipulating senses, or interactivity. Great news for advertisers perhaps, maybe not good news for computer game and violence linkages and lots of unknown things to be discovered.
The 3DTV research groundwork for subjective studies was by Wei Chen, Jérôme Fournier, Marcus Barkowsky and Patrick Le Callet. There are numerous VR studies to refer to.
