The blockchain-based virtual reality game "The Sandbox" said on March 30 that it has signed a partnership with the renowned U.S. video game company Atari.

Atari is a well-known company that once led the game industry, producing various arcade games and home games, including the world's first video game "Pong" in 1972.

Through the partnership, Atari will create Atari-themed digital assets within The Sandbox. Famous Atari games such as "RollerCoaster Tycoon," will be implemented in the Voxel version within the Sandbox game.

Atari will also be provided with Land, a virtual space in The Sandbox Games, to implement the Atari Games in the Land. Blockchain-based Atari theme parks will be created within The Sandbox Games, allowing users to experience various Atari games.

The official version of The Sandbox, which includes the Atari theme park, will be released in the second half of this year.

The Sandbox is a next-generation game platform utilizing blockchain technology. Users can create their own voxel games and own them or generate revenue.

The Sandbox will consist of a "VoxEdit" that allows users to produce items and characters themselves and a "game maker" that can produce games using "marketplace" items that can trade items.
