Korea Electric Power Corp. (KEPCO)

Korea Electric Power Corp. (KEPCO) led by CEO Kim Jong-gap was selected as the "excellent company in the energy & utility sector" at the "2019 Best Companies for Climate Change Response" hosted by the CDP Korean Committee held at the Western Chosun Hotel in Seoul on April 28.

The Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP), which was established in 2000, is a non-profit organization based in London, England, with the aim of providing transparent opportunities and risk factors related to climate change to financial institutions investing in companies by disclosing climate change response strategies, greenhouse gas emission information and reduction efforts by major listed companies in 92 countries.

As of 2019, more than 8,000 companies from all over the world have participated in releasing their carbon management information. KEPCO has been participating in it since 2008.

In Korea, it requests and evaluates information on climate change management for the top 200 listed companies by market capitalization, and the CDP Korean Committee selects and announces outstanding companies in Korea every year.

Carbon Management Sector Honors, which won the award this time, came to a total of 16 companies in 10 categories, including finance and industrial goods.

KEPCO won the award in recognition of its continued carbon management efforts in the energy & utility sector.
