Hyundai Motor announced on May 27 that it has completed the construction of a hydrogen charging station in H Gang-dong with GS Caltex and will begin full-scale operation from May 28.

This "H Gang-dong Hydrogen Charging Station" is Hyundai Motor's eighth hydrogen charging station to be built directly in downtown areas (Busan, National Assembly, Incheon) and highway rest areas (Yeoju, Anseong, Haman and Hanam) across the country from 2018 to popularize hydrogen electric vehicles.

It is the second commercial hydrogen charging station located in Seoul following the "H National Assembly Hydrogen Charging Station" that began operation in September last year, and it is meaningful that Hyundai Motor and energy company GS Caltex will promote the development of the hydrogen industry through strategic cooperation.

The H Gang-dong Hydrogen Charging Station has a total area of 211.2 ㎡at GS Caltex Welfare Commercial Charge Station (LPG Charging Station) in Gangdong-gu, and is expected to greatly improve the convenience of charging drivers in eastern Seoul and eastern metropolitan areas as more than 70 hydrogen electric vehicles can be buffered a day from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. (including public holidays).

It is also expected that it will establish itself as a comprehensive energy charging station along with existing gas stations, LPG charging stations, and electric vehicle charging stations.

"We expect to improve the economic feasibility and stability of hydrogen charging stations through cooperation with GS Caltex, which has long experience in operating charging stations," a Hyundai Motor official said. "We will continue to make efforts to supply hydrogen electric vehicles and expand infrastructure so that Korea can develop into a true hydrogen society."
