SEOUL -- Yonhap News Agency, South Korea's key news service agency, said Thursday it has launched mobile Web sites in six foreign languages to allow readers around the world access to a variety of news through their mobile phones.
Yonhap said readers can get the news in English, Chinese, Japanese, French, Spanish and Arabic through the mobile Web sites anywhere and anytime.
The Web sites also allow readers to easily search past articles from up to 60 days earlier and log on to the sites through applications for the iPhone and Android-based smartphones.
The launch comes after Yonhap's Korean language-based Web site was updated in late June, it said.
Yonhap launched Sunday the country's first "mobile newsroom," enabling reporters and editors to send stories, photos and videos through their mobile phones.
Yonhap, which operates around the clock to provide the fastest coverage of news involving Korea and beyond, has already distributed free mobile applications for iPhone and Android phone users.
