Korea IT Times recently caught up with Andy Ji, Co-founder of Ontology, the high-performance enterprise blockchain, to chat about Ontology’s recent exciting partnership with OGQ,  a leading global platform for connecting creators with fans. The partnership will help the platform provide greater copyright protection to digital content creators.

Tell me about your recent partnership with OGQ?

OGQ is a leading global platform for connecting creators with fans. The platform is home to over 14 million OGQ creators, and since 2011, over 54 million pieces of digital asset content have been uploaded to OGQ. The high-growth platform aimed at social media content creators – now an extremely popular industry – enables content creators to upload and sell their digital asset content, including emojis, images, videos, music, new fonts, stickers, and memes to fans.

Ontology’s partnership with OGQ will help the platform provide greater copyright protection for creators in their network. What’s more, in addition, OGQ users will now be able to purchase digital asset content using OEP-4 tokens on the Ontology public blockchain, while creators have the chance to receive token rewards.

Why is this partnership significant for content creators? What problems will Ontology help solve?

One of the greatest challenges for digital content creators is the ability to maintain copyright over their work, as content online is downloaded and re-shared.

Through this exciting partnership 250 million pieces of OGQ digital asset content will be housed on the Ontology public chain. This will ensure the copyright is fully protected and users are rightfully recognized. It’s just one fantastic example of how blockchain has the power to change how online creators generate revenue.

Can you tell me about any other recent exciting partnerships or news Ontology has announced?

In fact, Ontology has had a steady flow of really exciting partnerships and announcements in recent months, a trend we are sure is set to continue into 2020. Some of the most exciting Ontology news so far this year includes –

In April 2020, we announced a partnership with Venezuela Blockchain.  The social impact organization leverages emerging technologies to aid socio-economic development in Latin America. Venezuela Blockchain is utilizing Ontology’s technology to underpin a number of initiatives designed to benefit the wider Latin American community. These include the integration of the Ontology platform into Venezuela Blockchain’s Family Social Program charity to assist them in providing a basic income to Venezuelans. Ontology’s blockchain technology will also assist Latin Americans to find task-based work online and receive payment in crypto. This is a really beneficial use case for millions of people around the world and is particularly topical at the present time as the world gets to grips with the economic impact of the global pandemic.

Another piece of exciting more technical news we recently announced is our partnership with Spherity, a German decentralized digital identity specialist. Announced in May 2020 the main objective of this strategic partnership is to deliver enterprise solutions for cross-border supply chain resilience and transparency. The collaboration will see the integration of the Ontology blockchain into Spherity’s Cloud-Edge Identity Wallet, and will allow Ontology to harness Spherity’s blockchain-agnostic Decentralized Digital Identity solutions across public and permissioned blockchains.

The final piece I wanted to share is news that in May 2020, Ontology officially joined the Celo Foundation Alliance for Prosperity, a mission-aligned network of organizations that aims to foster social impact and financial inclusion through the use of blockchain technology.

Existing high-profile members include Andreessen Horowitz, Coinbase Ventures, and B12.  As a member, Ontology will join other leading technology providers, nonprofits, mobile wallets, payment processors, and global investment firms in building mobile-friendly financial tools on the Celo open blockchain platform.

We’re really excited to share lots more exciting news and partnerships, contributing to the growth of our global community ecosystem. Stay tuned!

Can you tell me a little more about Ontology and what exactly it aims to do?

At Ontology, we know that no business or organization is the same. For that reason, we aim to deliver a fast, user-friendly blockchain platform through a unique infrastructure that supports robust cross-chain collaboration, providing businesses with the tools to design blockchain solutions that suit them. In addition, one of our core focuses remains on changing the way data is exchanged, stored, and owned.

Our distributed collaboration platform is powered by the Ontology Token (ONT). The purpose of this utility token is to allow businesses to enjoy the benefits of smart contracts and tokenization while retaining control of their sensitive data.

Ontology is a high-performance public blockchain and distributed collaboration platform. Ontology's unique infrastructure supports robust cross-chain collaboration and Layer 2 scalability, offering businesses the flexibility to design a blockchain that suits their needs. With a suite of decentralized identity and data sharing protocols to enhance speed, security, and trust, Ontology’s features include ONT ID, a mobile digital ID application and DID used throughout the ecosystem, and DDXF, a decentralized data exchange, and collaboration framework.

Andy Ji is Co-founder of Ontology, a high performance public blockchain, and distributed collaboration platform.

Andy currently serves as Deputy Secretary-General of China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology’s Blockchain Technology and Industrial Development Forum. He previously led the Wanda Group’s blockchain initiative, a leading Chinese science, and technology innovation conglomerate. He was also a member of the Chinese delegation of  ISO/IEC TC 307, and was Deputy Director of the China Blockchain Ecosystem Alliance (CBEA). In addition, he served as a Director at Hyperledger, a multi-project open source collaborative effort to advance cross-industry blockchain technologies.

An early entrant into the world of blockchain, Andy contributed to the Chinese Ministry of Industry and Information Technology’s blockchain whitepaper and blockchain standards. He has written several books on blockchain and regularly leads blockchain community events.
