Some consumers who bought Hyundai's new SUV, the Genesis GV80, complained that their new cars shake so badly that the steering wheel also shakes, the JTBC reported on June 3. Meanwhile, Hyundai Motor understands that some models have engine problems.
“I'm driving on the road, and the stuff I left in the car shakes violently with a sound,” Chung Jong-sun, who bought Hyundai Motor's Genesis GV80 for 80 million won (some $65,000) two months ago, was quoted by JTBC as saying. He said his car showed these symptoms a month after he bought the car.
Noting that there was a time when the car shook badly on the highway, almost causing an accident, Chung said that an official of Hyundai Motor Service Center admitted it is a body defect, saying that he will change the engine.
Many consumers who bought Hyundai's Genesis GV80 also complain of car tremors, the media outlet reported.
Hyundai Motor only promised to change the engine to consumers who raised the issue, but it did not come up with any company-level measures.
Hyundai Motor said, "We are aware of the symptoms in some models, and we are making all-out efforts to grasp the cause." According to Hyundai Motor, the engine in question is Hyundai Motor's newly developed six-cylinder diesel engine.
