KT has come up with measures to support the use of big data in order to promote research activities and solution development related to COVID-19.

KT made an announcement on June 7 that it will provide education and research institutes, small and medium-sized venture companies, and start-ups with up to 90% discount on big data based on floating population from June 8 to 30.

The population data provided by KT's big data solution BigSight is based on communication data for one year before and after the outbreak of COVID-19. Big data can be used for tourism analysis and business district analysis in major cities, counties, and districts across the country.

Discount beneficiaries are education and research institutes such as schools that study COVID-19, industry-academic cooperation groups, and small and medium-sized venture companies and startups that are preparing new businesses in line with post-COVID-19.

Education and research institutes can get discounts on both big data for tourism analysis and commercial analysis, while venture companies and others can get discounts on big data for commercial analysis.

Data cannot be used for purposes other than research and development of new services. In addition, KT will provide the right to use KT's commercial analysis solution service for one year for small and medium-sized businesses.

KT has decided to offer discounts on population data to analyze and overcome the pandemic's impact on society and to revitalize the tourism industry and local commercial districts.

For population data purchases, you can inquire about product contents and estimates through the official email of the Big Site (help.bigsight@kt.com). For more information, visit the homepage of the Big Site (big sight.kt.com).

"KT is making various efforts to solve social problems such as COVID-19 by actively utilizing ICT solutions such as artificial intelligence and big data," said Kim Chae-hee, executive director of KT's AI/BigData business division. "We hope that this population data discount will help education and research institutes, small and medium-sized venture companies, and start-ups that study COVID-19."
