POSCO International delivered 1,000 protective clothing kits and 2,000 masks to PHP (Peace, Happiness and Prosperity) STEEL through its Dacca branch in Bangladesh on June 8. The supplies will be delivered to hospitals and police stations in Chattogram, Bangladesh.

PHP STEEL is one of POSCO International's major clients and has been trading for 20 years since 2000. "With this cooperation, we expect to overcome COVID-19 and achieve positive synergy in terms of business for both companies in the future," an official of POSCO International said.

Bangladesh lacks basic medical equipment such as protective clothing due to the rapid spread of the COVID-19. Currently, the number of infections among medical staff has exceeded 1,800, with 60,391 confirmed cases and 811 dead.

"Protective goods delivered this time are expected to reduce the number of confirmed cases in Bangladesh and contribute to the response to coronavirus pandemic," the official said.

Lee Jong-beom, the head of the Dacca branch of POSCO International, and Mohamed Mohsin, vice chairman of PHP STEEL, attended the event on June 8.

A PHP STEEL official thanked POSCO International for its support, saying, "It will be a great help to medical staff and local residents who are dedicated day and night at the forefront of quarantine."

"Bangladesh is one of the strategic countries where our company has been carrying out major projects for more than 40 years," a POSCO International official said. "We hope that the company will overcome the difficult times together and serve as an opportunity for mutual growth and co-prosperity."

Meanwhile, POSCO International has delivered COVID-19 diagnostic kits to Myanmar, Indonesia and Papua New Guinea for local communities frozen by the disease, and is trying to fulfill its social responsibilities as a 'global corporate citizen' by providing masks to Chinese clients.
