Lotte Group announced on June 9 that it donated 30,000 domestic diagnostic kits worth $240,000 (290 million won) to Indonesia's national natural disaster prevention administration (BNPB) as part of its social contribution efforts to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
The donation was prepared by Lotte Chemical, Lotte Chemical Titan, Lotte Shopping and Lotte Global Logistics, which are operating in Indonesia.
Attending the delivery ceremony of the Korean diagnostic kits in Jakarta, Indonesia, were Kim Yong-ho, CEO of Lotte Chemical Indonesia, Santo Darmosumarto, director-general of the East Asia-Pacific Bureau of the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Ibnu Asur, director-general of the logistics department of the Disaster Prevention Agency.
CEO Kim Yong-ho said, "We hope that the Korean diagnostic kits will help Indonesia overcome the COVID-19 pandemic. Lotte will be a friend in times of trouble."
Lotte Group entered Indonesia in 2008, starting with Lotte Mart, and more than 10 affiliates are currently working on the project in the country. In the chemical sector, Lotte is building a large-scale oil refinery in Banten, Java, Indonesia, and plans to invest in the PP compound business, which is a representative material for automobiles.
