Ewha Womans University Medical Center (EUMC) receives the Minister of Health and Welfare award for attracting foreign patients at Medical Korea 2015 Global Healthcare Award held on April 9th.
The event, which was held by the Ministry of Health and Welfare and organized by Korea Health Industry Development Institute(KHIDI) was aimed at praising the credit for developing Korea’s medical industry and attracting foreign patients along with the attraction policy starting from 2009.
EUMC(www.eumc.ac.kr/mokdong) received the award for its contribution to attracting patients from abroad.
EUMC targeted a nation to attract its patients in order to distinguish itself from other hospitals, and has specialized in its strength of female cancers like breast cancer and gynecologic cancer as well as stomach cancer, colorectal cancer, artificial joint, shoulder disease and female medical check-ups.
“EUMC has continuously sought innovation to enhance the safety of patients and the quality of medical service, so it obtained the JCI certification again in 2014 after getting it first in 2011. In pursuit of convenience among foreign patients, EUMC established ‘the prior medical service for foreign patients’ and had in place coordinators for one-on-one service who can speak the same language with the patient, which was well-received,” said Jung Gu-yong, EUMC’s deputy director, “With this momentum, EUMC will try to enhance the level of medical service for foreign patients as well as diversifying the nations which foreign patients come from.”
